We have been advised that we might require planning permission for installation of a conservation roof window. Please can you advise.
We would always advise that you check with your local authority before installing Lumen conservation rooflights. There are many factors that will decide whether you are granted permission to use rooflights and if your property is Listed or in a Conservation Area you may find restrictions concerning the type of rooflight that is allowed. Fortunately, the Lumen range of conservation rooflights replicate a traditional Victorian pattern. In addition the low profile design will ensure that your Lumen rooflight will sit flush with your roofline.
Do you make Coastal Rooflights?
Whilst we can make rooflights for coastal applications these should not be confused with any business trading as Coastal Rooflights. Lumen do not make rooflights for anyone else and we do not brand our rooflights for anyone else.
There are a variety of rooflight suppliers online but Lumen rooflights can only be purchased from us via the telephone or via our Lumen Rooflight website. You can also buy in person at our office address in Devon.
When choosing your rooflight you should always make sure that the product is not only right for the application but is supplied with the correct documentation to back up any claims made about performance.
Lumen make both the rooflights and winding mechanisms in Devon and work with leading suppliers such as Pilkington and Akzo Nobel. Our conservation rooflights have been tested by the BRE at Watford and results are readily available to view.
If you are interested in discussing your project with us please call on 0330 300 1090 or email email@example.com. Our team are experienced and will be able to give advice and quotations. Our dedicated team have an interest in traditional building materials and their applications. We are not a run of the mill sheet metal company simply taking other suppliers designs and pumping them out through ebay. We do not sell via ebay and should you find a Lumen conservation or Planus or EVO rooflight on any other site they will not carry the benefit of our Lumen guarantee.
In your brochure you quote a clear viewable area, an internal rafter and an overalll size. Please can you explain how I size the rooflight required.
As the Lumen rooflight is fixed into the sides of the rafter, this is normally the most critical size. The clear viewable size is the glazed area that is viewable from the inside. This measurement takes into account the fitted interior liner that is positioned inside the opening section. The overall size is given to inform the installation team just how much space is required on the outside of the roof. However, much of the outer section will be covered by the tiles or slates so this is not to be taken as the viewable size from outside.
I am interested in receiving a quotation and then ordering a bespoke Lumen roof light. How do I go about doing this?
Our team will discuss your design requirements with you before putting a written quotation together. There are many options to consider from the number of opening or fixed casements, glazing specification, paint colour and manual or electric mechanisms.
Your quotation can be sent via email, first class post or both if required. We would usually give you a call a couple of days later to check hat the information has been received and to ask whether any further details are needed. You will not be under any obligation to accept a quotation and we will not hassle you to do so. We are available to answer any questions or give advice.
Should you decide to proceed with a quotation we will then write to confirm the order and instruct our design team to produce the drawings. This process can take up to 10 days. When the drawing is prepared we will contact you and email or post a copy for you to review or discuss with your builder or planning department.
Your drawing will provide a visual of the rooflight along with full sizing and weight details.
The manufacturing process takes approximately 6 weeks.
Once safely delivered your bespoke Lumen rooflight will be protected by the same guarantee as our stock range.
We aim to provide accurate prices specific to each individual enquiry. We don't like to guess so it can take up to 24 hours to provide you with a quotation.
