We haven't always produced rooflights but over the generations we have developed our skills to produce the very best products, whatever they might be.
Our history of working with metal stretches back as far 1893 and during the 1914 - 1918 War we were contractors to HM Government supplying horseshoes, nails and brackets for the gun carriages and other horse drawn vehicular items.
In the 21 years of peace between the wars we expanded into a specialist manufacturer of builders' ironwork, taking out patents for many of the products that we produced. When hostilities commenced again in 1939, the company reverted to the role of supplier to the War Department, providing components for tanks, bailey bridges, ladders etc. In 1945 the company expanded rapidly into structural steelwork whilst continuing the original business in the building industry.
For years the company continued to specialise in metal products and in the late 1990's we decided that there was a need for our expertise in the rooflight market. These early developments were the birth of the Lumen rooflight range, initially focussing on conservation style rooflights, the brand developed to cover other more contemporary steel frame designs and ultimately the newer sustainable Accoya timber products.
Our core values remain the same today as they did in 1893. We only manufactured in Great Britain, we produce to the best of our abilities and our people are as important as our products.
In addition to creating British jobs we pay above the National Living wage because we want our team to feel that their contribution matters and that they can enjoy their lives away from work.
